Summer Tree Care Tips
Summer is coming! and while we’re all soaking up the sunshine, our trees are feeling the heat too! A little extra care this season can keep them strong, green, and thriving all year long.
1. Water Wisely:
For young trees, deep, slow watering once every week or two is better than a quick sprinkle every day. Let the water soak down to the roots, that’s where the magic happens. Early morning is the best time to water before the day gets too hot.
2. Mulch It Up:
A 2-4 inch layer of mulch around your tree’s base helps lock in moisture and keeps roots cool. Just keep it a few inches away from the trunk (trees don’t like “mulch volcanoes”!).
3. Watch for Stress:
Droopy leaves or early leaf drop can all be signs your tree is feeling the summer strain. Keep an eye out and adjust watering as needed.
4. No Heavy Pruning:
Summer is not the time for big haircuts! Stick to removing dead or broken branches and save major pruning for cooler months.
5. Show Them Some Love:
Trees give us shade, cleaner air, and a cooler city, return the favor with a little TLC this summer!
Stay cool, and keep those trees happy!
